One of the most important (probably THE most important)
for a pirate is his (or in some causes her) flag.

This is "James B Rogers" flag. I've designed it on paper, and worked it out in Photoshop.

The Pirates flag is also known as the "Jolly Roger" This name originated from term "Jolie Rouge" this means "pretty red one" in French. This stood for the "peg flag" or "red flag" witch was the flag of "no quarter given" (no mercy)

another possibility is that the word "Roger" originated from "Rouge" witch was used in association with "Rogue laws"

And yet another possibility is that is originated from the term "old Roger" witch meant "the devil" suggesting the wrath of the devil.

Jolly Rogers were used as a warning that there victims should not "resist" there attack.

These mostly "black" flags (some of them were red, this was not the same as the "peg flag") often showed skull's, bones, swords, and bleeding hearts to tell there victims what would happen to them if they would putt up to to much of a recistance.

These scary flags where meant to spread fear and terror into the hearts of there victims, so they would surrender without putting up a fight.

This was therefore a form of psychological warfare.

Every symbol had a distinct and easily recognised meaning.

- a "skull" stood for death, as well as "crossed bones"
- an "hour-glass" said that the time for there victims to surrender peacefully and therefore escape a certain death is running out.
- a "bleeding hart" said that a slow and painful death awaited there victims if they would appose them.
- a "sword" or "dagger" stood for battle

My Jolly Roger says: that the time for my victims to surrender peacefully is running out, and if they don't surrender they will die in the following battle (the "skull" and "cross-swords")
the bones on each side again says that my victims will die if they racist.
